It was 4:00PM or about, when my furnace was making awful dying noises. It was also 106°! I found myself in a very bad position, because I am 75 and have MS. My "thermo-regulators" don't work in heat and I melt like a chocolate bar in a hot car. No one was available to help with my furnace. I grew up in Yakima, so I am aware of "how to keep cool". They came from 25 miles away to put in my new furnace. (The AC part was fine). They were beyond courteous and I want to thank them! Jason and Sev were the best. I now have a brand new "heart" in my home, one that will work well beyond me! AND it is actually very handsome and shiny! 😊😊😊😊😊

Trey really knows his stuff. He came out and helped me diagnose a problem I’ve had with my home’s HVAC system during summer time since I moved here. Three other HVAC companies I had out in the past overlooked the issue and said things looked fine, but I knew the system wasn’t operating as it should be and I had a feeling it had to do with some of the settings on the unit not being correct. Trey immediately checked the settings and some of the wiring and realized what was wrong & likely causing the problem I was having. Definitely will be using Efficiency again!

Company came out to fix AC suppose to be here 4 -5 hours max spent 8hrs came with wrong part left came back. Then tech didn't have full tanks to weld which he knew weeks in advance be would need, again left came back. Tech started cussing and slamming doors super unprofessional!!! Left saying it was all fixed after 8 hours and didn't fix it. Spent 4 days in 90’ weather to show back up 2 hours early for their next appt. No call just banging on my door saying I am here and calling my phone with I am at your door??? Find another company that is prepared to do their job professionally and timely.

Our furnace was broken and needed a part. The part was backordered with the supplier but Efficiency Heating and Cooling contacted the manufacturer to expedite the repair. The service manager and crew were the best.My splits on my hvac system was blowing cold air. I called Effiency heating and cooling and they sent Trae Jordan. He was great worked for hours testing found problems he could correct and had to stop to order a part that wouldn' be in till Monday but he was able to stop the blowing of cold air.Then Monday cameand another service technician came to the house with the new part he worked till it got dark and everything was working. He was totally amazing. They both were amazing. It's important to have good service after the install and the sale. Efficency heating and cooling has the best service.

We had been looking for a year or so to have an HVAC company install a heat pump/mini split in our baby room. Because of a couple of relatively simple things, every other company we talked to thought that this project was the HARDEST PROJECT IN THE HISTORY OF THE COSMOS. This made me second guess the project, and focus on easy stuff - like raising a newborn, for a year. On a whim, mostly because I liked their trucks and uniforms, I called Efficiency Heating and Cooling. Jason came out to our house on a Thursday, did not seemed stressed at all about the project and had our project booked for the following Monday. The install went perfectly, the guys who did the install were super considerate and helpful with my sincere lack of knowledge about anything HVAC related, and got everything finished in one “efficient” day. I will definitely be using Efficiency HVAC again - and you should too!

We used Efficiency Heating to install a new heater for a 1950s house , Our unit was in a very hard to reach space. It was behind our water heater above our stairs. When Kellen and Cody arrived to install the new unit they mentioned this , but made us completely at ease with the processes. This was an all day thing they worked for 12 hours getting it perfect. At the end Im sure they were exhausted, but they still took more time making sure we knew how it would work and setting up the register to our needs. They never seemed in a hurry just complete professionalism all day. We are so grateful for these very hard working men, and will be recommending them to everyone .

I sought out Efficiency Heating and Cooling to replace my furnace and A/C units after my next door neighbor used their services, himself. He was very pleased and so am I.I knew right away when I met them that they were very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. They have a great deal of experience. They were easy to talk with and even stayed late the first day to finish the furnace install because we had been without heat for two weeks in winter. They were great. Update in May 2024 after using the mini-splits:Updating my rating from 5 to 4 stars. During the first heat wave of the year, we realized the bedroom mini-split AC was not working. A tech came out within a couple days and quickly resolved the issue. However, we learned from him that we must have gotten the bottom-of-the-line Mitsubishi mini-split system. After using mini-splits in the past, we expected that a fan-only mode (for air circulation without cooling/heating) or an option for the fan to stop once the cooling/heating set-point temperature is reached were simple, basic features, but apparently our system does not have these. For the price, we thought certainly we were getting a middle or top-of-the-line system. We weren’t informed of this or given any options during the estimate, but I wish we knew about all these features present and lacking then.February 2024:Seven and Armando did a great job on the installation, and had to work through a lot of tricky geometry to make all of the lines to the four separate heads as cleanly as possible. They worked hard to get the job done in just over two days, despite a couple additional challenges along the way. Throughout the installation, they were considerate and kept me updated, checking in with me for input at various stages.Ryan was friendly and considerate while going over the options. He sat down with me to create a few different estimates right away.The one-year no-interest financing was a plus, but the process for setting that up and making payments was quite confusing.

During the recent power outage and freezing temperatures in Portland, a water pipe broke over our furnace, resulting in severe damage which made the furnace inoperable. I contacted Efficiency Heating and Cooling and they sent a technician to assess the damage. He showed us the damaged components and explained their operation. The next day we received a quote for repair and several options for replacement. Considering the age of the furnace we opted for replacement. A few days later they arrived with the new unit. The technicians were very friendly, knowledgeable, and had the unit up and running before they left that day. They also installed some safeguards in case a similar situation occurred in the future. I would definitely call Efficiency again should I have any heating or cooling needs.

My Furnace died so I scheduled an appointment. Ryan came out to evaluate, provided a quote, explained the replacement process, and gave me a great deal. 2 days later Johnny and Cody showed up to install, they were right on time to get started, and finish. They showed me everything - the new filter box and the new thermostat controller. Great service and communication every step of the way from everyone involved. Johnny and Cody were very polite and professional installers. A great experience if you have to replace a furnace, I highly recommend them!

We have been using this company for 8 years and over the last two years service has gone way downhill. Called them to come out because our heater condenser hose froze up outside during the ice storm causing our furnace to shut down. Dietrich Hart came out and gave us one story and told us that it would be $1750 plus $169 to assess the furnace and said there wasn't much he could do until it thawed out and had us turn off the breaker. When he came out to do the repairs he told us the doors had fallen off, it was installed incorrectly and there was no back on the furnace. When I asked him why in 8 years none of the other service technicians had ever mentioned it before he said he was detailed oriented unlike the other technicians. He was setting us up for much more than the $1750. We asked him to leave because his story kept changing and could not trust what he was saying. The very next day Synergy Heating & Air came out and checked out the furnace and everything was fine and only charged us $149 for a service fee. He explained once the tube had thawed out everything would be fine. The furnace is working perfectly. BEWARE of this company and particularly this technician.

Great job on furnace installation with Efficiency Heating and Cooling. I love this company. I watched them do the work on my neighbor's HVAC install 2 years ago, then used them to help our AC system (motor replace), do maintenance on our old furnace so when time came to install a new furnace, it was no question for me who to use. From the maintenance folks, to the installers, to Ryan the knowledgeable estimator who helped us find the exact right item to fit our needs and budget. (We're not wealthy). it was 5-stars all the way. I'm a zippy senior, and the son of a long-gone perfectionist contractor/old school master carpenter so I know the score of doing a job right. We had been w/o heat for 2 days and our thermometer measured an inside temperature of 38 degrees. EH&C's Dietrich Hart showed up at 8 am and determined that our aging furnace wasn't up to the challenge; we needed 3 parts to make it work. Dietrich immediately went on line and ordered the parts and notified the folks back at EH&C that it was an emergency and to be on the lookout for the parts.They arrived, but one was incorrect.However, he came back at 5 pm, on his own time in a freezing rain storm and was able to do a work-around with the two parts so we got heat. Thanks so much Dietrich...you have a great heart! I won't say you saved our lives but you are our hero. I hope you made it home safely!!

We cannot say enough positive things about Efficiency Heating and Cooling. We have owned our house for 25 years and have had numerous different HVAC companies come and service our furnace. NONE OF THEM have come even close to the service we received from Efficiency.For us, they went absolutely beyond the call of duty to accommodate our special, life-threatening, situation (of course, all situations are special!). Dietrich was at our house punctually, within the hour, and with a high degree of expertise. He estimated what the repair to our furnace exhaust system would cost and that was the price we paid. No extra charges. No runarounds.Dietrich went out of his way to take care of us. He and Tom the service technician, repaired our problem in a totally professional manner. We know this, because we now know exactly how poorly our previous service company was. The difference between that company and Efficiency was like night and day. Efficiency was top of the line in every aspect of our repair. We also received excellent follow-up to our repair and in very short order.We also very much appreciate Pat in the office, who promptly returned all our calls, always with answers to our questions. On top of that, we had a response to our service calls within the hour of our calling. They responded immediately. They always arrived on time to appointments and got our furnace running again as quickly as is humanly possible. The best service we have ever received from anyone. Got 3 estimates for a mini split. Decided to go with Efficiency. They got my installation scheduled within a fairly short time. The team of Ryan (the estimator) and the installers, Seven, Johnny, Kellan came and did the installation the first day. They were all excellent and friendly workers. The next day Seven came back with helper, Trey to meet with the electricians that came and to complete the installation. Then they got everything working and explained to me how to use the remotes. I was very happy with the work of all. So far I am enjoying the mini splits and am waiting to see if my electric bill is reduced from my previous bill. 😀

Very thorough quote with Ray, we went through all my options, as I wasn’t sure if I should switch from a gas furnace to an electric heat pump (fortunately I had enough amps already, which if I hadn’t this would have cost a good amount of money). Appreciated that they considered the rebates and tax incentives as well (got 3 quotes and they did not all consider this). Also this quote was the easiest to follow. Then once I made my decision the work was scheduled pretty quickly after (have to consider the wait time for all the parts to come in). The folks who showed up to install were friendly, tidy, worked quickly, and answered a lot of my questions. They even gave honest feedback on where the pump would look the best. The first day was Johnny, then the second day was Johnny and Raphael plus electricians who came through. I also really appreciated the text message tracker which gave detailed info on when staff were going to show up, and included a photo of the person. I ended up switching to a very quiet/efficient Mitsubishi heat pump, so far it works great. I look forward to having a cooler house next summer.

Phenomenal experience. Replaced a hybrid gas furnace/end-of-life heat pump in early 2023. Jason was always responsive, helpful, and weighed in with candid recommendations about the replacement system. The install was fast and thorough, and the system has worked flawlessly. Today Trae stopped in to do a first-year wellness check on the system's operation. I was told I could expect a tech between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m., and Trae was here at 7:55 -- nice not to wait! He was thorough and answered all my questions, and spent almost 1.5 hours checking out the inside and outside units and thermostat, and suggesting more ways to get the most out of the system. I can't recommend Efficiency H&C highly enough!

We have used Efficiency Heating and Cooling for a couple of years for general yearly maintenance on our gas furnace and whole-house AC, and they have been great. Our most recent maintenance service was done by Dietrich Hart, and he was great--very thorough, informative and professional.A couple of weeks ago we decided to take the plunge and purchase a whole new system as our 10-year old furnace had a hairline crack in the heat exchanger (which Dietrich discovered during our recent PM service), and our AC was on borrowed time being that it was installed in 1993. We had Jason Shawn out to provide an estimate, and he was very professional and easy to work with. He provided us practical, realistic options and we made a choice on an upper mid-range setup.We just had our new whole-house furnace and AC system installed by Rafael and Johnny, and they were both fantastic! They were on time, professional, very clean as they worked, and they took time to answer all of our questions and make sure we were fully satisfied. They did excellent, high-quality work which continues our trend of having nothing but excellent service and visits from top-notch techs from Efficiency Heating and Cooling. Wow, not everyday that I can check all the boxes for a business review!It was one of those 100+ degree days and our AC went out. Placed a call to Efficiency Heating and Cooling and they were able to fit me into their schedule the next day. And what do you know, the tech, Dietrich, was here and on time, and I even got a heads up that he was on his way. Dietrich was very friendly and approachable.Dietrich and I discussed the symptoms and he went to work troubleshooting the system. After a short while he presented options to fix the problem complete with estimates and pictures of system readings. I gave the OK and he proceeded to make the repairs.It wasn't long until our HVAC system was up and running again. And I got readouts of the "fixed" system and the final pricing even came in under the estimate.I was very impressed that everything was tidied up and put back together the way it should be. Thank you, Dietrich, for a job well done. System is performing like new and I can definitely recommend Efficiency Heating and Cooling for your HVAC needs.

This company put in our mini split 7 years ago. Whenever we have had any issues they come out right away and fixed it at no additional cost. We recently had some work done on our house and some guys accidentally disconnected a drain so we had to call Doing out to see what happened. He fixed it easily, showed me how to avoid the problem next time and it only cost $119. They have also come up for regular maintenance and have been doing a great job at keeping me informed on what we are doing well and what we can do to keep our system running better. I chose Efficiency H&C primarily because of all the estimates I got for a new high-efficiency furnace and thermostat, Jason was the most responsive (super quick) and helpful with my follow-up questions...and I had a lot of them. On installation day, one of the installers, Johnny, actually showed up a little early and was joined shortly by Austin. Two very nice guys who didn’t mess around, answered all my questions and kept me informed of the work progress throughout the day. At the end, Johnny then walked me through the new thermostat operation. The unit is working well and I’m confident based on my experience so far that someone will quickly respond should any issues arise.If I had one suggestion, it’s that if a company is recommending using furnace filters (those closest to the furnace, I guess also referred to as air-handler filters), confirm before install day if it’s feasible based on your existing set-up/ductwork to accommodate a standard-size air filter. I already had a return air vent in my hallway which I’ve put filters in for years so I had that option, but since all the vendors I met with talked about using a furnace filter, I thought I'd give it a try. Since it wasn't going to be possible to fit a standard-size air filter without some difficulty, I assume all the vendors would have run into the same problem. So we made the decision to stick with my current hallway return for filtering, which was fine with me. But I’d ask the question and confirm the plan ahead of time.

I chose Efficiency Heating & Cooling after getting several estimates. Jason, the estimator, did a great job giving me options and explaining the differences between systems and asking questions to help me decide which system was the right fit for my family and how long I planned to be in the home which I appreciated. I feel the unit I chose was priced comparably to other local businesses.But the real reason for the 5 star review was the installation team of Tony and Blake; they are in a word amazing. From arriving earlier than estimate (I got a text first), to their friendliness, humor, patience with my continuously crazy dog, patience with ME asking a zillion questions and even helping me figure out why my heat pump was leaking, I can't say enough good things. They even noticed my dryer vent had been "occupied" with woodland creatures at one point and replaced it for me (thank you!!) These guys not only did an amazing job - but were an absolute joy to work with. I thought being "stuck" at home for two days would be a bore and a challenge but their personalities and positive energy made the whole experience so much better than expected. Ken with Efficiency Heating & Cooling was fantastic when dropping by to check on our furnace system. He was very courteous, professional and thoughtful in both his explanations and work. He mentioned that the products the previous home owner had setup were great, however, the workmanship for the furnace was not -- and I could easily see what he pointed out in the jumble of wires holding up boards and such. He did a great job in making things top notch, and I would happily recommend them. I also plan on having them check out and clean my AC when spring rolls around. Thank you!

I called around on Christmas Eve to have my furnace repaired. Efficiency Heating & Cooling was the only place that had an appointment available that day.The technician Trae was prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable.He not only fixed my issue and explained in detail what was wrong and why it happened. But he fixed 2 other issues as well.I will go to Efficiency Heating & Cooling for all of my Heating and Cooling needs from now on.

Excellent operation. Our furnace went out in our guesthouse and we were desperate to get it repaired or replaced quickly. I called several companies with mixed results. Some never called me back. Efficiency answered my call, scheduled me promptly for a diagnosis, then scheduled me for replacement (repair wasn't an option). In two days, we had an excellent new furnace. The entire process was professional and timely - from the initial phone call to diagnosis to replacement. I will never call anyone else!

Nov 2020:Had another great experience with Efficiency for a routine furnace service. Trey was super friendly and easy to work with. There was a part needing replacement and they were able to work us in later the same day.Sep 2019:Had a great experience with Efficiency for a clog in my condo’s AC drain. They were able to send someone out same day in the height of summer. Doug was very nice, thorough, and helped me better understand how the system works. We will definitely go with Efficiency in the future, and are considering a maintenance contract with them.

This is the second time we've used Efficiency, and both experiences have been top notch. The first was a few years back, they replaced our AC unit during the triple digit summer with a new, high efficiency AC, and it's been great. They didn't recommend the highest end unit for our house, and we appreciated their honesty. This time they came out to diagnose our furnace, which was blowing cold air, as well as a weird smell coming from the area. They ended up being unrelated, the smell was from the separate electrostatic filter, but Doug diagnosed and fixed both issues in under an hour and the final bill was more than fair. It's so nice having a heating/cooling company that we really feel we can trust.

When we were looking for a reliable HVAC repair service for our Mitsubishi split system during a recent heat wave, we Googled for the best service providers in the Portland area. We contacted several shops and all were booked solid. Then we tried a long shot, we contacted Efficiency Heating and Cooling (with a high customer satisfaction rating) even though they were somewhat out of our area. When I called, the person answering the phone (Shannon) was warm, friendly and definitely customer oriented. She listened to my story and though she knew we were a bit out of their normal service area, she found a way to help us out by sending a serviceman (Tray) the next day. And Tray turned out to be an excellent repairman, knowledgeable, friendly and spent some one-on-one time with us to educate us on the system we were using. He instructed us on some practical measures we could take to make the system run more efficiently and more reliably (above and beyond what we learned from the original installer, something that's rare in the repair industry).Long story short, we got our system up and running again and couldn't be happier with Efficiency HC. They are the best and I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone experiencing problems with their AC systems. Thank you Tray and Shannon for going out of your way to make us feel we mattered. You can now count us among your most satisfied customers.

He helped me understand what was going on and why to fix it. He also gave me some tips on what filters to use and where to get them. Over all great service!

Our AC went out during the hottest days of summer. I called and got an appointment for the next day. The technician arrived early morning, quickly identified the problem and explained it to me, and had the necessary equipment to make the repair. I've known Matt the owner since he was he was a kid. His dad and I have been in ministry together for over 35 years. He installed a furnace for me about 20 years ago. Then right after I got married and moved in 2003, he installed another and it's still going strong... But my bride and I have always wanted central air but never had the funds. Then along came an inheritance last winter, and on its heels, the COVID 19 pandemic. My friend told me Matt needed the work, so we were very happy to hire him. Given Matt was familiar with the house and the furnace being in the attic... there were no surprises. He and his crew showed up first thing in the morning and had finished the job in 6 hours. We are now "chill" and just in time, for its forecast to be 90 this weekend! The price was reasonable given we live way outside of Effeciency's service area. But how often do they get to see bucks in the trees behind customers back yards? IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME WITH EFFICIENCY. WE GOT DOUG.I REALLY DO NOT KNOW HOW WE GOT WITH BOTH THE COMPANY AND THE GENTLEMAN THAT WE GOT.WHEN I CALLED THEM I TOLD THEN THAT I WAS JUST RECOVERING FROM BREAST CANCER SURGERY. I WAS VERY WORRIED THAT I MIGHT CATCH SOMETHING AS MY IMMUNE SYSTEM IS SHOT.WHEN DOUG PULLED UP IN FRONT OF OUR HOME HE POURED FROM A HUGE CONTAINER AND SPENT THREE TO FIVE MINUTES CLEANING HIS HANDS IN THE STREET. WAS WEARING A VERY CLEAN MASK.HE WAS KIND THOUGHTFUL AND SMART. HE GOT RIGHT DOWN TO BUSINESS WITH OUR HEAT PUMP. CAME IN AND TOLD US HE KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG. I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD FIX IT THEN AND HE LEFT AND CAME RIGHT BACK WITH WHATEVER IT WAS TO FIX. THIS WAS LAST WEEK AND IT HAS WORKED PERFECT. AFTER HE CAME BACK IN I TOLD HIM THAT MY HOME IS A SIXTY NINE RANCH AND I COULD NOT STAND THE OLD HONEYWELL ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT AND DID HE HAVE ANOTHER BETTER ONE IN HIS TRUCK. HE TOLD ME MINE WAS ONE OF THE BEST THAT HONEYWELL MADE AND YOU CANT GET THEM ANY MORE. HE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG AND I SAID I CANT SEE IT ANYMORE. HE OPENED IT UP AND PUT A NEW BACK LIGHT IN IT AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT I AM A SENIOR AND I HAVE HAD LOTS OF THINGS GO WRONG IN MY HOME OVER THE YEARS. I CALLED EFFICIENCY BECAUSE IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY ANOTHER AIR AND HEATING COMPANY THAT DOES NOT SERVICE MILWAUKIE ANYMORE. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH BOTH THE COMPANY AND THE VERY NICE MAN THAT CAME TO HELP US. OH, AND BY THE WAY IT WAS VERY INEXPENSIVE! We had a broken thermocouple on our water heater. We were looking at a few days to get it fixed from other places, but when I contacted Efficiency, they were able to schedule a technician the same day. Because of social distancing, we had to give the technician, Doug, specific instructions so we wouldn't have contact with him directly. He followed them to the letter, and was in and out of the house in about half an hour. We were able to shower and give our baby a bath that evening, and we're very grateful to the staff at Efficiency for making that happen!

The technician didn't have the correct filter for my furnace, so he jammed something else in instead. After a $700 service visit for my three systems, you would think it would be done properly. Guess I was wrong. Will NOT be calling them again and would advise others to avoid them. The filter had to be ripped up to be removed after having been rammed into the unit with obvious force.

Jason did the most thorough quote job of the 3 companies I had out to quote a furnace replacement. Very knowledgeable and not pushy. He was also very responsive as we went back and forth on the quote and minor adjustments. Walter was the key installer and was at our house on time and stayed all day until the job was done around 7pm. The new furnace is great and I couldn’t be happier. Would definitely use again for any heating/cooling needs at our home.

I had a complicated furnace problem, and had trouble finding a company that could deal with it immediately. I called Efficiency Heating and Cooling because they were on a Top Ten list of a review site, and they sent someone out in two hours. The technician, Warren, was an impressive guy who did a great job. He worked hard at figuring it out, fixed it perfectly, and gave me a bill that was very fair and reasonable, and appeared to be based upon my best interests as a customer. I would strongly vouch for the company in general, and Warren in particular.

I have been a customer of Efficiency Heating and Cooling since 2015. It never stopped raining during the winter of 2015. My utility room flooded taking out my furnace. I called Efficiency Heating & Cooling and they came out within a few hours, diagnosed what had occurred with my furnace, ordered the hard to find part and had it installed within a few days at a reasonable price for an emergency situation. They really went above and beyond with good communication. I have had them out, yearly, since for annual maintenance. This year Oren came out and did a great job. He was communicative and easy to deal with. When it is time to replace my furnace, I will call Efficiency.
